If I&#039;m not mistaking, an acute vowel is associated with stress (since it&#039;s long and Old Norse didn&#039;t have long unstressed vowels, I think) which means that in ON Tattúín would be pronounced taht-TOO-EEN. N.B.: In Modern Icelandic unstressed vowels may be acute since acute vowels aren&#039;t associated with length, for example bíó. (Such words are loan words unless they&#039;re a compounds.)]]></description>
